WFIU Radio and WTIU TV seek a journalist with at least one year experience to join its converged newsroom. The chosen candidate will produce the weekly call-in news and public affair show Noon Edition . The journalist will also report on a number of community and regional stories and contribute to the news bureau's online presence. This is a part-time, hourly position.
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
Generate show ideas, book guests and manage social media and the online presence for Noon Edition.
Generate content for radio, TV, and the web.
Attend daily story meetings.
High school diploma or GED.
One year of work in a broadcast and /or journalism field.
Hands-on experience in writing, reporting, editing, production and on-air delivery in radio and TV and for the web.
In-depth understanding of journalistic principles, particularly as they apply to public media.
Ability to produce a television or radio news story from conception to broadcast.
Experience working with multi-platform technologies and the ability to adapt material to a variety of platforms while adhering to AP style guidelines.
Ability to function in a fast-paced 24/7/365 news environment.
Working Conditions / Demands
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
