Oversees, coordinates, and implements the development, design, and layout of the school's printed materials, digital communications, and publications applying creative and innovative ways to translate written or verbal ideas or concepts into graphic design work. Serves as a complimentary member of the Marketing and Communications Teams, providing leadership for the development of collateral materials across all departments. Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, meet deadlines, and be available to work evenings and multiple weekends as needed. Qualified candidates should be creative, well organized, and meticulous in their work with razor-sharp attention to detail, provide excellent customer service, and be able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the production of school communication projects, marketing materials, and signage by developing the overall layout and design.
Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and are aligned with the school branding and style guides.
Gather information and seek feedback for accurate presentation of messages by consulting with Communications Director, communications team, and departmental staff for whom projects are being developed.
Provide design and layout support and training for departmental publications and projects.
Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary for the timely delivery of drafts and final projects.
Report to the Director of Communications on project intake and deadlines, as well as review and editing of design projects.
Work as an active member of the Communications and Marketing Teams, providing assistance on non-design-related aspects of projects when able and available.
Serve as one of the primary staffers maintaining Brewster’s photo archive.
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
Proficiency in Google Suite, and Microsoft Suite.
Thorough knowledge of techniques and methods used in graphic arts, layout principles, and design concepts, including but not limited to, principles of composition, typography, aesthetics, and color and design theories.
Ability to plan and schedule work within tight deadlines, follow written and oral instructions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
Ability to bring text together with design concepts.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, with 1 to 3 years of related experience.
Familiarity with digital asset management
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to motivate and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
