Job Overview:
The Web Editor will be responsible for overseeing and managing the content on our Health Literacy Solution website. This role involves curating, assigning, editing, and releasing content to ensure it is engaging, accurate, informative, useful and aligned with our brand voice. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent writing and editing skills, and a strong understanding of web content best practices.
Content Management:
Oversee the daily content updates on the website, ensuring timely and accurate publication.
Curate, edit, and proofread articles, blog posts, and other web content to maintain high editorial standards.
Collaborate with content creators, designers, and developers to produce and update web content and expand content offerings.
Repurpose and optimize existing content.
Story Development and Coordination:
Work with co-executive editors to brainstorm and assign story ideas.
Create (and maintain/expand) a database of writers for story assignments.
Assign stories with clear instructions on topic and objectives.
Perform initial content review to ensure the writer has captured the assignment's intention.
Maintain a prospective content calendar to ensure everyone knows what is being published well in advance (est. 3 months)
SEO and Web Analytics:
Optimize web content for search engines (SEO) to increase organic traffic.
Monitor web analytics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Implement and maintain best practices for on-page SEO.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure content aligns with marketing campaigns and product launches.
Oversee layout, including images, graphics, videos, and artwork. Review and sign off on the final layout and appearance.
Manage the editorial calendar to plan and schedule content releases.
Manage online events such as webinars and member networking events.
Support staff with various online events such virtual conferences.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct regular audits of website content to ensure all material listed on the site is current and relevant.
Identify and fix content errors, broken links, and other issues that impact user experience.
User Experience (UX):
Collaborate with UX designers to enhance the user experience through content layout and design.
Ensure content is accessible and optimized for various devices and platforms.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Web Editor, Content Manager, or similar role.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
Strong understanding of SEO principles and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web design.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
