The Editor for Digital Audience is a key editorial role developing and cultivating ideas and opinion content for WBUR's ideas and opinion vertical, Cognoscenti. This role will work with the senior editor, executive editor for digital and team to publish a broad range of voices and expand ideas and opinion content on platforms like digital audio, video, social media, newsletters and live events. An important function of the role is to ensure a diversity of perspectives are represented across WBUR's various platforms.
The Editor works to understand and grow WBUR's digital audiences across multiple platforms. This position is critical to WBUR's goals to deepen engagement and develop new audiences, including a younger and more diverse public media community. The editor works collaboratively with Cognoscentis' large roster of authors and contributors, and will write, edit, develop visual storytelling and create material for social media platforms, especially with an eye towards repackaging published Cognoscenti material to leverage WBUR's platforms. The work also includes creating and developing digital content with outside contributors, the public and Cognoscentis' audience to meet WBUR's high journalistic standards, elevating the work of new and emerging voices, and developing complex, relevant and meaningful content with distinct points of view. This job requires a thorough understanding of how to promote interactivity and audience engagement with digital users. Must be detail-oriented, care deeply about journalistic standards and have a strong news sensibility. The Editor position may require a flexible schedule that could include some weekend and evening work. 5 - 8 years related experience recommended. This position has the opportunity to be hybrid.
